Service Description
The theme of this training is the prevention of violence against women and to bring awareness to the current rise of human trafficking and domestic violence in SC. Guest speakers will include members from the Richland County Human trafficking task force, Lighthouse for life foundation and the US Concealed Carry Association (USCCA). NRA Firearms Instructor: Jay Harris Dates: There are three class dates available. December 2nd, 9th or 16th. Fees: Free (Firearms, ammo, and Protective eyewear and ear protection will be provided by Champion Defense LLC at no cost to the student). Students are welcome to bring their own firearms if they have one. Seats Available per class: 12 Details of Training: Students will learn the following. 1. The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course: Introduces students to the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. Through this course, the students will learn about pistol parts and operation, ammunition, gun safety, pistol shooting fundamentals, and pistol shooting activities. 2. Statutory and case law of South Carolina relating to handguns and to the use of lethal and deadly force. 3. Information on handgun use and safe gun handling skills. 4. Proper storage practice for handguns with an emphasis on storage practices that reduce the possibility of accidental injury to a child. 5. Fundamentals of marksmanship. 6. Written exam and Live Fire exam. 7. Legal provisions of prohibited carry locations as a SC CWP permit holder. 8. Proper Handgun and ammunition selection suitable for conceal carry. Note: This class is open to all women ages 19 and up, with or without a SC Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP). Students without a CWP, will be able to obtain one during this course.
